Breakout Session

Low Cost Single Board Computers and You – Perfect Together?

Track: Technology Management

Breakout VI
Fri 9:20 am – 10:15 am

Abstract
Low cost single board computers such as the Raspberry Pi, the VIA APC, and BeagleBone Black have tremendous potential for making technology more accessible to students and for improving higher education services. However, the additional assembly required and open source operating systems often included can introduce new challenges and may threaten established technology usage and purchasing practices. This presentation will address the benefits and the costs/challenges related to these new computers, and highlight examples of where and how these devices have been successfully deployed.
