Breakout Session

Teaching a MOOC: An Insider’s View

Track:  MOOC

Breakout Session II
Thurs. 10:35 – 11:35

Abstract
In the fall of 2012, I taught one of the first Massive Open Online Courses in the humanities to over 90,000 students around the world, and in the Fall of 2013 will repeat the experience. What did I learn? What are the dangers and what are the promises of online teaching? Do the humanities have a future in this massive, digitized learning world? What I propose to do is share what worked and what did not work, what is incorrigible and what can be adapted in this new online learning platform.
