Breakout Session

Understanding Music and Video Copyright Laws for Colleges and Universities

Track: Learning, Teaching and Library

Breakout Session II
Thursday 10:35 – 11:35

Abstract
This program will focus on the use and misuse of copyrighted music and video materials by student’s faculty and staff at colleges and universities. Case studies involving tracking of music, and video materials will be discussed as examples. Access to wireless networks on our campuses has made it easier for students to download copyrighted material without knowing they are in violation of laws. This program will discuss the colleges and universities liability and responsibilities as the provider of access to information on campuses.
