Breakout Session

Globally Networked Learning in Action

Track: Learning & Teaching Innovations

Breakout Session V
Fri. 8:20am–9:15am

Abstract
Georgian Court’s International Collaboration Center (ICC) is a dedicated space for students to interact with their counterparts in other countries using a variety of video conferencing and shared workspaces.  The goal is to give students multiple opportunities to participate in global virtual work teams similar to those they will encounter when in the work force.  Faculty across the university are incorporating “international components” in their courses.  Initial outcomes indicate that students are more engaged in the course material and enjoy the opportunity to interact with students in other countries.  Similarities and differences are experienced rather than just spoken or read about.  Students also became more adept at using collaborative technology.
