Abstract
This presentation will highlight a comprehensive faculty development program (FDP) at Montclair State University. The FDP program has been designed to help faculty get ready for online teach from both technological and pedagogical perspectives. The presentation will focus on the process of designing, developing and delivering the pedagogical track of Montclair’s faculty development program. It will also demonstrate the program and share the feedback from the faculty participants in the past 5 years.

Bio
Dr. Yanling Sun is the Director of Technology Training and Integration at Montclair State University. Her professional efforts focus on the academic integration of technological applications as well as the assimilation of best practices of instructional design into teaching and learning which are in different modes, such as online, hybrid and face-to-face. She manages instructional services to assist faculty members to effectively integrate appropriate technologies with sound pedagogical strategies to enhance instructional and learning outcomes. Dr. Sun initiates a social-collaborative course design model and leads an instructional design team to design and develop individual online/hybrid courses as well as online programs at Montclair State University. She also oversees a training group to provide technology training services to enable effectiveness in business operations and administrative activities.

Carolyn Demefack is a Senior Instructional Designer with Montclair State University. She has over fifteen years of experience as an educator and brings extensive experience leveraging technology and multimedia to enhance learning. Her work focuses on the design, development and management of adult education in online, hybrid, and face-to-face programs. She is dedicated to developing learning environments that meet the needs of diverse learners, encourage critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and reflection. She leads online faculty development initiatives, facilitates training and provides one-on-one support. She brings experience applying a wide variety of instructional design methodologies and learner-centered pedagogical approaches to media rich learning environments. Carolyn has a MA in Educational Communications and Technology from the NYU Steinhart School of Education.

Dr. Jinxia He is an Instructional Designer at Montclair State University. Before that, she worked as an Instructional Design Technologist at Atlanta University Center. She received her Ph.D. with a specialization in Instructional System Design from University of Central Florida. Her research interests focus on using emerging technologies on teaching and learning, building online learning communities and team based learning especially virtual teams, as well as the faculty professional development.
