Breakout Session

Using VoiceThread to Enhance Feedback for Learning to Write

Track: Learning Tool

Breakout V
Friday, 9:20 – 10:15 am

Abstract
Effective feedback for learning is crucial. However, not all feedback is effective and often instructors are left to wonder if students read or understand their feedback. In this presentation the presenter will explain how she used VoiceThread technology to provide audio-visual feedback on student writing and to facilitate a peer revision activity at the college level. Students perceived the audio-visual comments to be more helpful and engaging than written comments. In addition, evidence that students applied feedback given through VoiceThread was present in student revisions and reflections on their writing process.
