Best Practices In Digital Literacy:  Understanding digital tools and information for higher education

This presentation will focus on best practices for engaging students while delivering instructional content through digital literacies in a higher education setting. The 21st century literacy initiatives in the K-12 setting will be discussed as well as initiatives in higher education to prepare students for the 21st century workforce.  Within this presentation, a variety of theoretical, methodological and practical approaches to identifying and understanding new literacies will be discussed.   Examples of ways to incorporate digital literacy in classrooms will be shared.

Daun Werkman-Ward is an adjunct instructor and clinical faculty member at Monmouth University in the School of Education.  She is currently a doctoral student at NJCU.
